Appraisal Review Board Protests
One of your most essential rights as a Texas taxpayer is the right to protest appraisal district determinations to the county appraisal review board (ARB). If the appraised value of your commercial property is excessive, or if your property is appraised unequally compared to similar properties, you can challenge the appraised value by filing a protest with the ARB. Your protest is then determined by a panel of ARB members at a formal hearing where the appraisal district has the burden of proof to show that its valuation is both accurate, and equal and uniform. Our attorneys have successfully handled thousands of commercial property tax protests to ARBs throughout Texas and are ready to fight for your property.
We handle all types of ARB protests, including challenging the appraised values of large commercial properties, including multi-family, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, low-income housing, and all other commercial property types. In addition to having an exceptional understanding of appraisal practice and theory, our in-depth knowledge of the Texas Property Tax Code and applicable case law allows us to advocate for your property to the fullest.
When filing an ARB protest, the protest forms must be completed accurately, or your rights can be waived. Additionally, the Texas Property Tax Code places strict deadlines for filing protests and subsequently appealing the ARB’s determinations to district court. With Harris Law, you get skilled attorneys advocating for your property at every stage of the appeal process.
